Mr. Roy Nukina

1938 - 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Roy Nukina. He passed away peacefully on December 5th with his family by his side. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years Takako, sons Lorne (Lisa Baratta) and Kevin (Yukie), brother Stan (Judy), cousin Sumi, niece Sandra and nephews Dennis, Derek and Cary, relatives in Japan, friends and family pet Koby. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Masao (Saki). Roy was born in Vancouver in 1938, interned during the war in Bridge River, growing up in Westwold, later settling in Kamloops, returning to Vancouver in 1958. Roy loved to fish, golf, curl, and cruise to Alaska. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the Van-Fraser Heritage Club and the Bonsor 2 Healthy Heart group. The family would like to thank the many family and friends who visited him during his brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Ocean View Funeral Chapel in Burnaby. Flowers and koden respectfully declined. A donation to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation or National Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
