

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sang Wai Wu 胡星偉on October 8, 2025 at age 79 after a brief battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Born on September 1, 1946, in Hong Kong, Sang Wai was the third eldest in a family of seven siblings. Trained in heavy-duty machinery, he worked in Hong Kong before immigrating to Canada in 1979, where he built a life for his family in New Westminster and later Coquitlam. Working as a car mechanic for over 30 years, he was a talented fixer, builder, and all-around handyman.
Sang Wai was a devoted husband to Lai Wan for 55 years, a loving father to Karen, Fred (Christine), and Michelle (Daniel), and a proud grandfather to Jenica, Madeline, Alexis and Spencer. His hardworking nature, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and cherished always.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered kindness and support during his illness. A funeral service to celebrate Sang Wai’s life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in remembering a life well lived.
