Mr. Sergio Hullana Cachero
November 14, 1935 – July 30, 2019
Sergio Hullana Cachero 1935 – 2019 Sergio Hullana Cachero passed away in New Westminster on July 30, 2019 at the age of 83. Born in Baguio, Philippines, Sergio immigrated to Prince Rupert BC in 1971 in search of a better life for his wife Edna and their six young children. Although the adjustment to a new culture was initially difficult, Sergio and his family soon thrived in the community he came to know as home. In 1973, he helped found the Filipino-Canadian Association, leaving a legacy that remains active in promoting the Filipino culture in Prince Rupert. Sergio’s passion for golf started as a young caddy in the Philippines. He developed this hobby by joining the Prince Rupert Golf Club, where he could be found on most Men’s Nights and early Saturday mornings. Sergio and his wife were also avid bowlers and were frequent league champions. Sergio was an accomplished silver and goldsmith, practicing his trade for most of his life. Family and friends will treasure the numerous pieces of jewelry he created. Sergio was extremely proud of his 22-year career for the City of Prince Rupert, which culminated in his retirement as the Treasurer of the city. After retirement, he and Edna moved to Comox, where he enjoyed golfing, gardening and new friends. The couple subsequently moved to New Westminster to be closer to family. Predeceased by his parents Facundo and Eulalia, sister Leticia Anderson and brother Porfirio, Sergio is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna; children Conrad (Brenda), Mario (Wendy), Mary Jane (Stan), Erwin (Liz), Gerardo (Rachel), Charito (Andrew), grandchildren Shelby (Ron), Myles (Kathrina), Jared, Danica, Miguel, Daniel, Madison, Alexander; and great-grandson James. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Laulita Carranza, Remedios Bartko, Tita Cachero, and Sally Bell (Dave), brother-in-law Francis Valera (Mary), and numerous family and friends in North America and overseas. A funeral service will be held at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home 3789 Royal Oak Avenue Burnaby BC on Saturday August 17, 2019 at 9:30 am. Condolences may be left at www.forestlawn-burnaby.com

My brother Sergio was a dedicated dad. He and his wife Edna worked hard and managed to have their children attain a good higher education. This gave them the tools to be successful in their respective careers.
