Our late father was born in Guangdong/Canton Sunwui, China. He was the eldest son of Mr. Yin Hui Kam and Ms. Yuet Hung Chu and Ms. Wai Lung Cheng (step mother) along with 9 other siblings. He studied in Wah Yan College, Hong Kong as a secondary student for a few years and subsequently graduated from an accounting school in Guangzhou.
Our late father was a studious and hard-working achiever. He started working as an accounting officer using abacus computation in a big printing/stationary company in Hong Kong. He was so skillful on the abacus that his computation was faster than that of a calculator. Furthermore, his great memory was like a mini-computer recording hundreds of different paper types and their inventory statuses used by newspaper agencies. Years later, he extended his career aspect by learning Japanese in 1960s and worked in the sales department till retirement. He then immigrated to Vancouver, BC to reunite with his children.
In his spare time, he enjoyed swimming, 3 to 4 times a week, till his late 80s. In fact, he participated in an annual event swimming across the Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong in 1960. Our late father was a life-long learner, from Chinese history to dancing, and traveled extensively in his retirement. Although he led a frugal life (my late mom always complained that he turned off the lights right after she flipped them on), he spared no expenses in providing education funds to his children. In addition, our late father was a much disciplined individual with a daily routine down to the minute. He also adopted a healthy diet without much salt and fat to the point of eating steamed pork chop!
He will be sadly missed by his 5 children and their spouses (Gloria, Rebecca & son-in-law Ka Bun, Norma & son-in-law Hung Fai, Joseph & daughter-in-law Fion, Sau Shun & daughter-in-law Lori), 5 grandsons (Kenyon, Kendall, Gabriel, Jeffrey, Terrence) and 3 great-grandsons (Brandon, Damon, Conan), 2 great-granddaughters (Paige, Eloise) as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces scattered around Canada, Hong Kong, London, England and Sydney, Australia.
Visitation will be held on Friday July 23rd, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC. The entombment services will be carried out on Saturday July 24th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the same address above.
