Shirley passed away quietly with her family at her side at the age of 89. She leaves behind her daughter Sandra (John Cossalter), grandchildren Chris and Stefano (Tracy), great-grandchildren Nicola, Luca, Isabella, and Giovanni. She will be missed by all of us. Shirley was born in North Bay, Ontario. She joined the Women's Army Core in 1945, and served in London England, where she met Joe. They were married in Burnaby in 1948 where they built their first home. Shirley and Joe moved to Tulameen for their retirement. She also lived in Princeton, and spent her final years in the George Derby Center. Shirley was a talented craftsperson: oil painting, water colours, sewing, knitting, quilting, photography, making ginger bread houses and the list goes on. She loved the outdoors: swimming, fishing, bird watching. We thank Dr. Froese and the Staff at the George Derby Center for mom's excellent care. Celebration of Shirley's life will be held 11:00am Tuesday, May 29 2012 at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings St. Burnaby.
