"Si-Fu" Wei Foung Yuan
September 15, 1920 – December 4, 2021

With his loving care team beside him, Wei Foung Yuan peacefully slipped from this world to reunite with family. Wei Foung was born in Hoi Man, Kiangso - China on September 15, 1920. He was preceded by his loving wife Wuan Ying Kuo; Parents P F Yuan and Mao Yuan and also one brother and one sister.
In his youth, Wei Foung proudly excelled at his job as a textile engineer later becoming the mill manager. On June 1st 1947, Wei Foung Yuan married Wang Ying Kuo and enjoyed 73 years of togetherness. He will be sadly missed by his three children: Henry Yuen with wife Adriana Francischetti; Peter Yuan with wife Rosina Lee and Cecilia Yuan; Grandchildren: Anita Yuen Felkai with husband Todd Felkai, Jennifer Yuen Stapleton with husband Micah Stapleton, Christopher Yuan, Robert Yuan, Victoria Yuan; Brazilian extended Grandchildren Rafael, Gabriela, Rubens and Cesar with wife Julia and Great-granddaughter Emily Yuen Felkai. In addition, numerous nieces and nephews, long-time family friends and community friends.
Even in retirement, Wei Foung still traveled with Wuan Ying Kuo and touched almost every continent of the world. After retiring and moving to Canada, Wei Foung became a Tai-Chi Master and founded the Richmond Wellness Club, which for decades has helped seniors improve their health and strengthen their energy through the ancient Chinese art of exercises. Many people were touched by his vibrant and positive attitude, and he will be remembered by his love of singing, exercising and meeting friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Peter Chang and the Richmond Hospital medical team for their unending care and support of Dad and our family. In addition, our deep appreciation to all his loving caregivers and nursing team for their professional services and dedication which made it possible for Dad to stay in his own home almost until the end.
Celebration of Life and Prayers will be said Saturday, January 8 at 10:30 AM at the Canadian Martyrs Church, 5771 Granville Avenue, Richmond, BC where a Funeral Mass Service will be celebrated. After the Mass, the interment will take place at Ocean View Burial Park at 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby at 1:30 PM. Due to Covid19 restrictions, no information about the repast is available at this time.
