With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. So King Loo on August 12, 2024 at Richmond General Hospital in British Columbia, Canada. Born on February 28, 1935 in Hoiping, Guangdong, China, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loving matriarch. She lived in Lima, Peru with her husband and children in the 1960s and immigrated to Vancouver in 1970.
She was a dedicated mother while working long hours in her family business. After retiring, she enjoyed travelling the world with family and friends, vegetable gardening, cooking, and frequent walks around Oakridge Centre and Queen Elizabeth Park.
So King is predeceased by her parents and two siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, Fon Sun, and her children: George (Wanni), Charles (Esther), Julia, John (Catherine), and Albert (Sophia). She was a cherished and caring grandmother to Jason (Joyce), Jonathan, Natasha (Vincent), Justine (Jason), Jordan (Stella), Brandon, Ashley, Melanie (Brian), Joshua, Kaitlyn, Matthew, and Callum. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Jade, Jorja, Chace, Noah, Olivia, Taylor, Ryan, Grayson, Levi, and Isla. She is also survived by the family of her predeceased older brother, Wayne Way Yen Lee.
So King Loo was kind, caring, generous, and witty. She will be remembered for her warmth, humour and the love she shared, especially through food and meals. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
