Father in heaven, we thank you that you've given us life, even the fullness of life forevermore! Mothers are so very special, and the mother you were pleased to place us children in her womb truly is blessed.

Your daughter Sen Soo Wah had gone on before us to be with you. She kept faith to the end. And we believe you are even now giving her a role to prepare for the soon coming of your beloved begotten Son. Hallelujah! May heaven and earth walk together in spirit and in truth and in the realm of your power and glory in our lives, for in you our mother still works with us your most holy Will.

Dearest Mom, 5 years have gone by since you left us and I'm sure you are still as beautiful as ever. Really wish you are here to share the moment of Shara's wedding with me. Shara will be getting married in 2 days. Yes, you've asked Jacob to look after Shara before you left and he has kept his words. They are getting married soon. In the  last two weeks, having ministered among the First Nations people at the Soboba Reservation in California, and now among the largely black Communion Christian Ministries in St. Louis, Missouri, special memorable moments of mom popped up. Several times, a prophetic dream of mom being chosen and placed on the front page of a gazette as the model citizen over many villages was brought into my mind. And, yes, fond recollections among close Christian friends of loving deceased forebears included a telling yesterday of how mom used to pop out her dentured teeth, in gesture, in mocking tyranny, sending us little naughty ones scampering in every direction. Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, what God has prepared for those who wait on, hope in, and seek God with a heart of love! "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live" (Jn 5:24). With love from Jesus, Ah Diong

Cath and I got to spend time alone with Uncle Sim Mong Hoo at his home until about 1:30 am. We are praying for him and the entire Sim family to find the truth in Christ, believing God answers the prayer and faithfulness of his children who have gone before us into our Father's house. In a few days will be the first anniversary of mom's homegoing. Last night, as we gathered for Father's Day in Clement's home, Mother was of course conspicuously absent. Amidst the nostalgic reminiscences, which no doubt were shared by all siblings, dad, and others in the family, I was reflecting again how truly sad it would indeed be, as the Apostle Paul wrote, if only for this life we have hope in Christ. Praise God! We have hope in Christ for the life hereafter as well! And much more! I tell my kids often that I look very much forward to the great re-union one day with my mom, their "mahmah." In the mean time, we all run our race so God's Kingdom can come and we have our share in it! ...Psalm 40:8 "I delight to do Thy Will, O my God: yea, Thy Law is within my heart."

I met auntie during her visit to Doreen & Peter's family in Toronto likely around 2004. My memory of her goes to her soft gentle voice and heart of serving whenever she engaged with her grandchildren and families. I learned that one of her legs was weak so prolonged walking and standing often caused great discomfort but she never made a big deal about her pain. I witnessed how she cared for Doreen & Peter's family and what impressed me most is auntie's gentle kindness and love. May she now receive the full joy and comfort with her Heavenly Maker.

I am very sadden to learn of the passing of Tua Yee. She has touched and blessed me in more ways than she will ever know. 
Even though she was unable to complete her elementary education because of Guah Ma's need for her help in raising her younger siblings, she had taught me more about how to love with action, to give selflessly, to forgive completely, and to hope in all things.
 
I will always remember her as a wonderful aunt. She was a great cook and baker who was always ready to share. Though she was a woman of few words, she is usually so nurturing and kind to all of us. I especially remember the time when I attempted to "run away from home" but had no where else to go. Somehow, I figured my way to catch a city bus to Tua Yee's flat in Tua Pah Teo.to seek refuge. She took me in with no reservation, comforted and counseled me not to give up or to commit suicide, though she promptly informed my mom that I was with her, she persuaded for my mom to let me stay with y'all for a couple of days (I guess to allow my mom some time to cool off so that she would not kill me right there and then). I am most grateful that Tua Yee even negotiated for my mom not to beat the day lights out of me when I agreed to go home. (I think my life was spared that day primarily because of Tua Yee's intervention). Thank God! I think I only sustained a few quarter size blue and black pinches from my mom for that one. I am sharing this not to shame my mom because I do love her and had over time learned to forgive her. I am sharing this because it adeptly describes the kind of aunt and person she was to me. To the scared, helpless child I was, she was so welcoming, approachable, and willing to provide a safe haven of protection and solace. 
 
I have no words to describe your loss. What can I say that might help? I cannot say that this world is better off because we lost a person who gave so much to others and demanded so little in return. I cannot say that she will not be missed. But this I know, our loss is heaven's gain. Alas! She is free from her bodily labor and sufferings. She is re-united with our loving Heavenly Father and all the loved ones she had longed to see. Perhaps our greatest consolation is that she is still watching over us and that we have the glorious hope of being able to see her again someday.

I am glad that I got to spend time with her for the last few days before I left for SFO earlier this month. Those few hours that I had spent with her and the photos that I have taken with her in the Hospital will be a treasured memory for me and my siblings. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ that I was able to see her before she was taken away. I missed her so very much, and I pray to God to give me PEACE.

Ah Mee! My Mother-in-law, is an extra-ordinary woman who I must admit wholeheartedly that no matter how hard I try, I can never be a daughter-in-law like her.  She is such a caring wife who took great care of her husband daily needs, a wonderful mother who sacrifices for all her 4 children in whatever ways she can and loving grandmother who never fails to shower all her love for each and every one of her 14 grandchildren. She would let others have the best while she humbles herself to whatever that is left. She is always praying for everyone's good health and happiness, including praying for those people who are affected by the many natural disaster around the world. She is a woman who would help with everything her hands can lay upon and never seems to be able to stop doing things.  Her kindness can be felt by everyone around her, she had set a great example for all her children and grandchildren to follow. She will always have birthday cards and red packet gifts ready for all her grandchildren and even sent birthday cards overseas to her siblings and relatives.  She had taught me to be a better person, a thoughtful wife, caring Mum and a better daughter-in-law over the years that I have lived with her. My dearest mom:

You have loved, encouraged, admonished and helped me all my life - through the years. 

One memory came to mind: Just before I turned 21, I told you that I wanted to go to England (at the Marine Parade home balcony overlooking the water). I expected to hear disapproval and discouraging words but your concern and love for me were expressed in these words "how will you cope with the cold as you suffer so much pain in your leg?"  That was the start of my life away from you and the family. 

In the last few weeks, you told me how much your enjoyed the many road trips we took together in the mid 80s and 90s travelling both in U.S. and Canada whenever you and Dad visited us. You said "I have seen so much and it is enough. Peter has been good in taking us around." We moved to Toronto in 2002.  When I was offered work at Tyndale, you (and dad) enthusiastically and graciously came to take care of your youngest one-year old grandson Cohen.  This provided an opportunity for us to live together for nine months.  Thank you mom (and dad). 

We are thankful that God in His wisdom moved us back to Vancouver last summer.  Peter, our children, Calvin, Casey, Cullen, Cohen and I will miss your loving smile and encouraging words. We have so many fond memories of you mom. No more suffering and pain on this earth mom. You have fought a good fight. I love you mom.

Daniel, Amelia and I are thankful to God that we were able to spend three weeks with mum till a day before her going home. Ruth had two weeks with her and was by her bedside, along with other family members, when mum breathed her last breath.

Mum’s loving concern for us was unceasing; she always sacrificed the best for others.

She was not afraid of hard work, but she lamented that she suffered in her evening years because of poor health. She said that she had always trusted in God all her life but her suffering was difficult to bear. 

I told her that her acceptance of her suffering was proof of her true faith and trust in God. I reassured her that our loving Father-in-Heaven cares for us all and He is able to help us. We looked at each other with sadness, love and hope. Although I had laryngitis, I was able to sing, “Let the Beauty of Jesus be seen in me” to her and told her that this is my heart’s desire and that I knew that it was hers, too.

We, her children and grandchildren had the privilege of serving her during her time of great suffering. Mum had always pampered and cooked for us throughout our lives. After her discharge from Vancouver General Hospital three years ago, she cooked my favourite glutinous rice for me.

It’s amazing that she could continue to do simple chores for the past three years even though she was continually out of breath and often suffered from physical discomfort and pain.

Thank you for your legacy of love. I love you, mum.

With deepest Condolences to you and the family. Ah Mee is a dear person to us and we will all miss her. We wish we could be with all of you right now but even though we are miles apart, her memory is held deep within our hearts. She is resting in the lord and that comforts us greatly.

My heart is with you during this time, and I share your grief of missing a dear and precious lady. 

I miss Auntie's smile; her gracious manner – always sharing a kind word; and her caring thoughts about my family. 

She has a labour of love cooking up a storm for many, preparing her many signature dishes.

Dear Alfred,

Sorry to hear the sad new but happy to learn that my dear sister is safely in the arms of our Lord  under His loving care and grace. Hallelujah! God has shorthened her sufferings on earth. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.(Job 1:21) Being the head of the family please console one another according to the bible says: Pray for one another so that you may be healed (James5:16). I am very glad that I was there talking to her for the last few days before I left for SFO. Those few hours I spent with her and the photos taken with her in the Hospital will be a treasured memory of her to me and my siblings. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ that I was able to see her before she was taken away. Oh, I missed her very, very much. I pray to God to give me PEACE.

Our heartfelt sympathies to you on the passing of your wife/mum.  You have done your best looking after her and that she is now free from the discomfort she was in all these months.  Take heart that all of you have been good and filial children and she felt very blessed with all of you around her. She is now safe in the arms of our Jesus.

On behalf of my family and Shalom B-P Church, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to you and all family members on the home-going of your beloved wife (mother / mother-in-law / grandmother), the late Mdm Sen Soo Wah.
Separation with loved ones is always painful, but may all of you take comfort that it is only temporal and that your loved one has passed over to a better place. â€œBlessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow themâ€¦And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.â€ (Revelation 14:13; 21:4)
May God's peace be upon you and your family members as you remember and recall the Lord's mercy and grace upon your loved one, in extending her life for a couple of years more to be with the family, and in relieving her of all her earthly pain and suffering, and giving her rest in the eternal presence of God Almighty in heaven.   
Thank God for the comfort of His Word and the promise of the hope we have as believers in Christ, that we shall see and be reunite with our loved ones again one day (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).   
May the God of all Comfort meet your deepest need during this time of your loss and bereavement. We are upholding all of you in our prayers.
