Our father, Mr. Thanh Ta, was a hardworking, honest and helpful person. He was born in an extremely poor family. His family home had burned down twice in a few years time. He could only finish a grade four elementary education and started working at the age of 16. Due to various reasons, he needed to promise to repay his dad's and his older brother's business debts to others. It took him many years of hard works to repay them.
In 1951, he married mom and the family grew with 2 daughters and 4 sons : Muoi, Peggy, Co, Bill , Philip and Jason. Life was then still very hard, he had to work long hours daily to support the family.
He encountered numerous difficulties throughout 30 plus years and went through different kinds of business. He finally opened his metal fabrication and manufacturing factory called " Dai Thanh ", with his honesty and skills, the business grew very fast. The fall of Saigon in 1975 had forced him to close his factory in a few years later. In 1984, he immigrated to Vancouver to united with his children and retired since. On Friday. February 25th,2011, he passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Center, Burnaby, BC. Our father had taught us : 1. To be honest to others. 2. And a good health is more important than money in life. We all will miss him dearly.
