Umiliana Babbini

August 21, 1921 - March 7, 2017

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Liana "Nonni" Babbini. She was born in the small town of Mommio, Italy, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1952. She worked at Jones Tents & Awnings and Flex Steel. She is survived by her son Peter (Bobbie) and son-in-law Mike, her grandchildren Eric (Cecilia), Justin, Jenny (David), Jamie (Melissa) and Brittney (Greg), and her great-grandchildren Henry, Harper and Presley. She was predeceased by her daughter Virginia (1985) and her husband Enrico (1999). We will miss her courageous spirit and keen intelligence, as well as her vibrant garden, home cooking and skillful knitting that she lovingly shared with so many of us over the years. The family wishes to thank the staff of Royal Columbian Hospital and St. Elizabeth for their compassionate care, and the countless friends and family who offered their support in Liana's final days. Ti voglio bene, Nonni. Public visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14th at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel (4276 Hastings St., Burnaby) from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church (2025 Napier St, Vancouver) on Wednesday, March 15th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com
