Born on May 18, 1936, in Hong Kong, Vincent was the third of ten siblings. Growing up in a large family nurtured his caring nature, which guided him through decades of service and leadership. He began his career as a teacher at his alma mater, then joined the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank, where his diligence carried him from clerk to department head.
Vincent married Magdalen in 1976, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1985. They ran a Chinese restaurant in Taylor, BC, his Friday clam chowder becoming a beloved local staple. From organizing toy donations for children in Hong Kong, to helping a stranger in medical need in Vancouver, to lending a hand in family and friends’ restaurants, Vincent’s kindness extended far beyond the kitchen.
He loved fishing and traveling; he cherished literature, Chinese poetry, and, above all, his family. In his final days, his siblings, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends traveled from different cities in Canada and from Hong Kong to visit, care for, and support him. Vincent passed peacefully on July 17, 2025, at age 89, with Magdalen beside him.
We remember Vincent for his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering generosity. His legacy lives on in every soul he touched.
