Mr. Vincenzo Russo

Mr. Vincenzo Russo was born July 1, 1937 in Civitanova, Del Sannio, Italy, passed away March 1, 2023 in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 85 years. In 1954 at the age of 17 years Vincenzo came to Canada with his father by boat. They landed in Halifax then took a train across the country to Vancouver and stayed with relatives. Knowing very little English, Vincenzo began working in construction and doing odd jobs to support his family. In 1957 he started working as a Long Shore Man, working many different positions moving up to Crane Operator which he retired from in 2002 at the age of 65. In Vincenzo’s retirement he enjoyed working in his garden and enjoying soccer which he was an avid fan. Vincenzo was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Adele Russo(nee Virginillo), he is survived by this loving sister Annunziata(Nancy) and her husband Giuseppe Pesa, his nephews Domenico Pesa, Bruno(Diana) Pesa, and their son Joseph Pesa, and other family and friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Bell & Burnaby Funeral home, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday March 14, 2023, at Our Lady of Sorrows, 555 Slocan Street, Vancouver, BC.
