

Vitor passed away at home in Vancouver where he lives with his loving wife Maria. Vitor was born on August 26, 1931, son of Jose and Otelinda Romao, in Albufeira, Portugal.
He is survived by his wife, Maria, oldest son Henrique (daughter in-law Celina), Eduardo (daughter in-law Fatima) and daughter Francisca (son in-law Steve) , seven Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins living in Canada and Portugal, as well as many close family friends.
“Papa Vitor” was a hardworking man who loved the sea.
As a young father, along with Maria, they lived many years in Angola, Africa with his family where he became a successful fisherman with a fleet of fishing boats named after his children “Francisca da Cruz” and “Henrique Eduardo.” Vitor immigrated to Canada with Maria in 1977, together they lived happily while Vitor continued working in the construction industry until he retired. Vitor continued to follow his passion, getting up early everyday to go out and catch a variety of fish and crabs for the family to enjoy. He was also an avid Gardener, enjoyed wine making as a hobby and being a man with many talents, also baked homemade bread and cooked the most flavourful Fisherman’s Stew “ Caldeirada.“
Graveside service will be held at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street Burnaby, B.C. V5J 1A4 on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at 1:00pm.
