Val I am so sad that I could not break away from camp to make it to see you before your passing, but my last memory of hugging you before your departure across Canada and seeing that phenomenal smile on your face will live with me forever. Watching the two of you drive down the driveway in the beautiful motorhome leaving on your great adventure fills me with so much happiness to have shared in that moment of freedom. It too brought back memories of when we were young, cruising around in the old Camaro looking for the ultimate restaurant that we had yet to dine in. Or playing our loud strange music (Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke or The Mahavishnu Orchestra) much to a lot of peoples chagrin! Oh my friend we have shared endless hours of laughs that will keep you alive in my memories forever.
 My deepest and warmest thoughts are for Heidi knowing that she has a great task ahead in keeping with Val's last wishes of 'sticking with the plan'. A plan that sets the stage for happiness and fulfillment. A task that we will all be here to help you with Heidi, today, tomorrow and forever.
 
My Eulogy for one of my closet of Friends:
 
Vladimir Hugo Bozek
 
When I look around this room I see a lot of familiar faces and some new ones. For those who don't know me my name is Scott Gifford and Vladimir was one of my oldest and best of friends.
 Vladimir came to Canada as an eleven year old boy in 1968 with his family from Czechoslovakia. They made their home in Windsor Ontario.
 I met Vladimir during the summer of 1979 after meeting a close friend of his, Michael Fahey, while working at a motorcycle shop. From that moment on our common interests of having fun, laughing a lot and riding motorcycles started a friendship that kept on strong till this very day.
 Soon after that Vladimir and Michael moved in with the gang at 'Sin City', a row of post WWII small housings that were built for the veterans coming back from the war. There we culminated a family of friends, as we were all new to BC, based on fun and adventure. Vladimir very soon became a very important link in our chain. Cruising around in the old '69 Camaro with the tunes blaring, hands pounding on the steering wheel and dash board, we enjoyed life to its fullest without the cares of growing up in any real hurry.
 One of our favorite past times was going to see concert shows. My most memorable one was back in 1981, and yes I am surprised that I can still remember that far back, when Val myself and a few other buddies drove the Camaro down to Seattle to see the Rolling Stones concert at the Kingdome. We had so much fun during that three day excursion that I don't think that anyone of us slept!
 From numerous camping trips and rented boating excursions to rafting down the Thompson River, Vladimir's laughter and that big booming voice always kept us going. To look at him at any given moment you would always see a smile on his face and a story of laughter in his eyes.
 During the early 1980's, an old dear friend of mine from high school, Heidi Krispen (Kochs), moved out to the coast and soon became part of the gang. From the moment Vladimir set his eyes on Heidi I knew in my heart that something was going to happen. Mind you, thankfully for Heidi's patience, because it took a long time for it to happen! Somewhere around a couple years after first meeting they started dating and soon became inseparable. One of the longest marriages of my closest friends (with Peter and Pamela leading in that category), Heidi and Vladimir's marriage was one of true compassion and love for each other. Sharing in the path that life takes us on with all of the wonderful adventures and experiences, hardships and disappointments, they upheld the vows of marriage of love enduring through health and sickness, happiness and sadness.
 This year brought so much happiness to the Bozeks and allowed them to venture on a trip of their dreams. When I didn't hear from them for a month at a time I knew that they were having fun and doing what they had always wanted to do. I am so thankful that Vladimir got to take that trip with the love of his life and so, so saddened by the sudden end of it all.
 I know that Vladimir has gone to a better place and will still be looking upon us with that wonderful smile of his, waiting to see us after our time has come to an end here.
 Vladimir Hugo Bozek was a good man, a kind man, a caring man and a great friend and I am going to miss him dearly.

It is very hard for me to send this condolence knowing that I saw Vladimir days before of his passing. It has taken me some time to understand how fast things can change in a short space of time. Seeing him with a smile and happiness is what I remembered by him the most. He had also given lots of love and happiness to my sister Heidi who always talked about him.

Dear Vladimir, big brother, you left us much too early, but left us with many memories that we will cherish forever. I will truly miss you and hope that you will watch over us all from above.

Vlad, I remember all the great times we had and how cool it was to get a ride to school from my big brother. It makes me smile to think of stories about times you had to care for me (dumping me out of the baby carriage). 

It's so hard to believe, hard to write, that you are gone. I think about you every day. 

I'm so thankful you had Heidi by your side as always.
