

Her father ran a small business at home, where she was the main supporting labourer in addition to helping with house chores. Because of the war that was happening during her time as a child, she did not attend school until her teenage years. While attending night school at Siu Chau School 少周學校, her classmate (who became her brother-in-law later) introduced her to her beloved husband CheungShing 章勝 during a double date. They got married in 1959 and had 3 sons shortly after (ChunSing, Kimmis, and Ronald).
She worked as a home sewer and was a part-time factory and domestic worker. WaiYin became a Canadian immigrant in 1997, through family sponsorship and later became a Canadian citizen. Living in North Vancouver she and her husband would frequently be busing to Chinatown and other areas in Vancouver to do daily activities and attend social gatherings. One of her proudest moments in life was learning how to swim in her 50’s, being active in the communities, and doing TaiChi 太極.
We will miss you mom/grandma. May you continue to watch over us.
There will be a Celebration of her life via live stream on Thursday May 12, 2022 at 7:00 PM PDT until 9:00 PM PDT. She will be resting at Ocean View Cemetery in Burnaby on Wednesday May 18.
