Mr. William George Burton

July 2, 1931 – January 1, 2024
Obituary of Mr. William George Burton
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park

In loving memory...

Bill Burton passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 in New Westminster.

He is predeceased by his wife Audrey, his brothers Tom and Dave and sister Isabelle. He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Pouce Coupe B.C.(Peace River region) on July 2, 1931. The family stayed there for approximately 4 years farming, but the land was rough and difficult. By 1935 the family had moved to the Vancouver area around 25thAve and Sophia. They lived in the Vancouver area for a few years before moving to Richmond where they resided for a number of years. After the war Bill enlisted in the Air Force as a ground stockman. He then got a job with Air Canada. Bill married Audrey in 1972 and they lived in Burnaby. Bill retired in 1994 and they did quite a bit of travelling. Audrey passed away in 2005. Bill then moved to Abbotsford to be near his brother Tom. They enjoyed many good times together such as playing pool, frequenting the ABC restaurant where they both became well known, and just enjoying each others company. After Tom’s passing in 2014 Bill moved to Thornebridge Gardens Independent Living in New Westminster to be closer to family. He enjoyed 7 years there always commenting on how great the food was and how nice the people who lived and worked there were. He made new friends there and had frequent visits from family. He also wrote a lot of poetry.

Bill was a very friendly and caring person with a great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed.

-Fade Away-

Fade away, some day I’d just like to fade away

And in the quiet of the night

Gently turn down the light.

That would be alright.

No need for tears

For all these years

I’ve had no fears

This time would come.
