The passing of Yoshiko Koyanagi (nee Tanaka) has left a legacy of life, love, tears and the years of endless hard work with the early passing of her fisherman husband, raising her three children, while giving 30 plus years of daily skilled labour on the fillet line at BC Packers.
Although retiring in 1996, she continued caring for her grandsons who she loved so much. She has always put her familys’ needs paramount to her own, right to her very last breath.
All those who knew her and loved her… miss her dearly even more at her absence.
Predecease by her husband, Taddy Koyanagi (1973), she is survived by her daughter, Ruby (Dave), her sons, Thomas and Bruce (Deborah) and five grandchildren, Danielle, Lisa, Casey, Riley and Matthew. Her sisters, Toyoko and Suzuye (Japan), and her sister in-law, Kiyoko, and many nieces and nephews.
A private service for family only will be held.
In closing, many thanks to the Nikoniko Home Care. Mom was able to stay and be cared for in her beloved home. And thank you to the Steveston Buddhist Temple, where she was an active member in the Fujinkai for many years.
Donations, in her memory, can be sent to Steveston Buddhist Temple, 4360 Garry Street, Richmond, BC V7E 2V2. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
