Mrs. Yoshiko Yoshimaru, of Burnaby, passed away in her sleep on October 3, 2021. Born January 1, 1930 in Japan, she survived WWII as a child, and immigrated to Canada with her husband, Takeji, in 1957. Together they raised two children, and eventually Mrs. Yoshimaru proudly became 'Baachan' to her granddaughters.
Mrs. Yoshimaru enjoyed cooking for her family, travelling, ikebana, watercolour painting, knitting, and spending time with her extended family at Vancouver Japanese Gospel Church. Her heart-warming chuckle and gentle spirit touched many lives, and she is greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Yoshimaru is survived by her two sons and two granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Yoshimaru’s family would like to ask for donations to the Robert Nimi Nikkei Home or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawn-burnaby.com for the Yoshimaru family.
