Yuet Ling Leung Wong passed away at the age of 87 in the morning of 29th September 2015 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was born in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China in January 1928, married to Kam Cho Leung (on May 21st, 1968) in Hong Kong. The family immigrated to Canada in December 1969, stayed approximately a year in Calgary with daughter Susie before settling on Trinity Street in the East End Vancouver in 1970. She continued devoting herself to raising her family in Canada despite the cultural and language struggles, for which she had not been prepared; perhaps due to lack of formal education a typical barrier for Chinese women of her times. While working at a restaurant in Vancouver China Town, she made a few lifelong friends. She is survived by three sons (Malcolm Leung, Jeffrey Leung and Lorne Leung), two step-daughters (Susie Yuen and Eileen Fong), their spouses (Isabella Leung, Beate Hoffmann and Nicholas Fong), grandchildren (Tim Leung, Marisa Leung, Douglas Yuen, David Yuen, Allan Yuen, Amy Fong and David Fong) and their spouse (Steve Ansell) and great grandchildren (Julie Ansell and Elise Ansell). A memorial service will be held on November 6 2015 at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby BC. A visiting/viewing will be held on Nov 4, 2015 in the Viewing Room, Ocean View Funeral Home at 7:00 pm. The interment will be held at Ocean View Cemetery at 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby BC at 1:30 pm, finally reuniting with her loving husband predeceased in 1992 at the age of 89.
