Alma June Akers, 93, passed away at home on March 12, 2024 surrounded by her family and close friends. June was born on January 31, 1931 to John Kendall and Maggie Viola Elliott at home in Fieldton, Texas. June was the oldest of 3 children. June married the love of her life, Wendell Thomas Akers in 1948, after just 2 weeks of dating. June and Wendell moved from Littlefield TX to Buchanan Dam TX in 1986 and this is where they called home. They were married for 63 years before Wendell Thomas Akers passed away on January 2, 2011. June was also preceded in death by her parents, Kendall and Viola Elliott, brother Voyne Elliott, sister Sandra Richards, and beloved fur baby Maggie Sue.
June is survived by her 4 children, Starla Peepers, Daryl Akers and wife Anita, Jake Akers, Cindy Nagle and husband Mike.
June is survived by 8 grandchildren including, Kim Bolen and partner DeAnna, Stacie Willard and husband Jon, Amanda Maynard and husband Mike, Aubrey DiNoto and partner Ty, Kelly Junior and husband Lance, Tyler Slocum and partner Kelly, Tiffany Oviatt and husband Matthew and Kaylee Nagle and partner Natalie.
June is survived by 12 great-grandchildren including Makayla Kinney and husband Austin, Ashlyn Clough and wife Callie, Brooke Clough and partner Ryan, Zachary Willard, Shyla Bolen and partner Brayden, Casey Willard, Cody Clough, Jackson Triplett, Carson Oviatt, Rae-Lynn Triplett, Ellie Oviatt, Olivia June Oviatt, and Halle June Slocum.
June is also survived by 4 great great-grandchildren, Braydon Stratton, Zoey Stratton, Olivia Clough and Liam Clough.
June is also survived by brother-in-law Robert Richards, nephews Rick Richards and Darren Richards, and nieces Sandy Wallace, Vicky Short and Kathy Maynard.
June was known for her loyalty and honesty. June loved her daily walks with family and her beloved Maggie Sue. She loved family get togethers and enjoyed her daily phone calls with family and friends. She also loved spending time outdoors and sewing and crocheting.
She will dearly be missed by all who knew her. Her family wants her to be remembered for the joy that she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing. A private ceremony will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park on Friday, March 15, 2024 @ 2PM.
