Archie Rhea Simon, 74, of Bertram, quietly & peacefully departed this life on January 21, 2022. Archie was a devoted, father, husband, and brother who had many friends in his business and his personal life. He was born in San Marcos, TX on March 29, 1947 to Norman & Hazel Simon. In 1965, he graduated from San Marcos High School. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served a tour in Vietnam.
After his Air Force Service he worked for San Marcos Equipment Company where his dad was manager. Next he joined Ingram Readymix Company as a plant manager in Seguin. He transferred to Ingram Readymix Plant in Marble Falls. He served there from 1975 until he retired in 1999. In 1978, Archie & Peggy met and were married by Brother Max Copeland on February 10, 1979. He gained a son, David Brune, age 7. And they had a daughter together, Jessica. After his first retirement, he built Rodeo Town for Eddie & Dale Shell. Later he built Cadillac Dance Hall.
Archie was a problem solver who often took on difficult projects at work and around the house. His talents included building 3 houses for his family, working on his tractor, and yard at the ranch and almost anything Peggy wanted him to do. In 2007, Archie and Peggy bought property in Bertram. Archie built not only their dream home, but also built Jessica a home.
Archie was a good sport. Peggy made many costumes for them to wear to Halloween parties. He would even let her paint his face with makeup to become any character she thought up. He barely complained when she applied mascara & blush. Archie let Peggy completely plan all vacations and events and was always ready and eager to participate. Peggy purchased everything that he ever wore from his cowboy boots to his hats and everything in between.
When David & Jessica were growing up, if they wanted a playhouse, a swing or a fort built in the pasture, or needed to learn to drive he was there with knowledge, a firm hand, and patience. He dearly loved his daughter, Jessica, and helped her with 4-H projects, and building rabbit houses for her show bunnies. He continued to encourage her in her endeavors even after she became an adult.
He was a very spiritual soul. He believed in God, he was a Lutheran by faith, and was a member of the Henry Thomas Masonic Lodge. He was very thoughtful and a gentleman through & through. He was a friend to many, and his smile was unforgettable. He was kind, faithful, quiet, supportive, humorous at times, talented in so many ways and faithful in his religion and to his family.
Archie is remembered and loved by his wife, Peggy, his daughter, Jessica Fuller, and husband Leon, his step-son David Brune, and wife Carol Dumeyer, Brothers Alex and Andy Simon, and their families, Brother-in-law Eddie Shell, and wife Dale, and their family, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is predeceased by his father and mother Hazel Ewald & Norman Simon, and step-father Ervin Ewald. Also, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lois Shell and Fred Shell, and brother-in-law Dale Shell and Sister-in-law Gladys Simon.
