Arnold's love of the land began at an early age, learning from his parents. Plowing, combining, ranching and hunting became his life. Having 5 sisters, he would help his dad as much as possible! Tractors, plows, hay equipment, cows and sheep eventually became the family business.
His hay business not only included Burnet County, but also surrounding counties. Arnold made friends wherever he worked; the Mezger family became a part of his family.
His love of hunting later became a family tradition that he enjoyed with his kids and grandkids. Hunting in Colorado led to him and his family meeting the Virden family. Over time, they became not only great friends, but family too.
Arnold and Diane were a part of the Church of Christ here in Burnet and Lake Victor, where they raised their children.
Arnold loved spending time with his family. His grandkids and great granddaughter meant the world to him and he loved watching them grow.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane Burton, his daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Hopkins, and his son, Clay (Karissa) Burton. Arnold is also survived by his sisters Joyce (Keith) Althaus and Othella Webb and his brother-in-law, Bill Garrett. Survivors also include grandchildren, Brandon (Shelby) Burton, Blake Herrera, Trent Burton and Kiley Burton along with one great granddaughter, Emma Burton.
Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Ruby Burton, and his sisters, Wilma (Melvin) Webb, Renda (Julian) Paschall, Beulah Garrett and his brother-in-law, Milton Webb.
