Augustina Arellano Gonzales

Augustina was born on August 28, 1943, in Burnet, Texas, is the third daughter out of five to Apa (Mr. Octavio Arellano) and Ama (Mrs. Francisca (Garcia) Arellano). She is also a sister to five brothers and three half-siblings.

She traveled with the family across several states, helping to provide care for her younger siblings and working as a field laborer. During this time, Augustina met Vicente Gonzales Sr. and married Vicente on April 4, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas.

Upon retirement, both Vicente and Augustina moved to a ranch home in the hill country, their lifelong dream. Augustina worked as a head cook for the local school districts and loved cooking and interacting with the students until retirement. Her work ethic, care and concern for others, love for exercise, and honesty were loved by many who knew her.

She was a great daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and will be missed dearly.

She is preceded by her husband, Vicente M. Gonzales Sr., son Albert A. Gonzales and granddaughter Brittany M. Gonzales.

She is survived by her two sons, Vicente A. Gonzales Jr., Vernon A. Gonzales, their spouses Sandra and Tonia respectively, and six grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Breana, Julia, Desiree, and Jayden. She is also preceded by her parents, Ama and Apa, and brothers, Jessie, Octavio Jr, and Robert. She is also survived by sisters, Janie, Mary, Virginia, and Betty, and brothers, Enrique, and Eugene, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be held August 3, 2026 at 1200 noon at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church located at 1314 Fair Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78223. Immediately following the mass, an interment will be held at San Lorenzo Cemetery, 11210 Stuart Rd, San Antonio, TX 78263. A reception will be held back at St. Margaret Mary’s church social hall (activity center) at 3 PM.
