Bill Gilmore

William Russel Gilmore was on June 3, 1937 in Lampasas, Texas, son of Temple and Hazel Martin Gilmore. He was baptized into the Christian faith at the First Baptist Church of Burnet by Michael Cox.

He married Carolyn “Katy” Garner on December 22, 1961. Two children were born of this union: sons, William Clay and Glen Russel. Bill retired from Sprint Telephone Company after 31 years. He was an avid horseman and rancher. He was a member of the Naruna Baptist Church.

Bill is survived by his wife, Katy of Burnet; his son Clay (Rhonda) of Burnet; his son, Glen (Holly)a daughter Vicki Cox (Joey) of Wyoming & four grandchildren, William Blayne Gilmore, Brooklynn Gilmore, William Cole Gilmore; and Makenna Gilmore. He is also survived by two sisters Jane Alderson(Tim); and Shirley Campbell(Jim) , sister-in-laws, Margaret Gilmore of Henderson, NV, Henryetta Kidd of Fort Worth, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Bill was called to his eternal home by his Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the The First Baptist Church of Burnet on Tuesday, 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Marcus Foster officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mark Russell, David Russell, Matt Shorb, Taylor Shorb, Seth Shelburn, and Cory McAnelly.

Honorary pallbearers will be James L. Luther, John Stephens, Josh Stephens, Larry Wilson, Neil Shelburn, Joey Cox and Abe Carothers.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Temple and Hazel Martin Gilmore, grand parents, Fannie and Russ Gilmore, William and Elizabeth Martin and a brother Gordon Ray Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, 2222 Wilborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
