I wrote this to you over 18 years ago..
My daughter my Awakening my 13 pound heart my laughter my tears a goddess of babies strong smart sleeping well and eating well wet shitty diapers midnight cries 3am screams I love it all. My impeding death and life eternal rolled into one cosmic being. She is better than sports cooler than Porsches. Her sloppy sugar more valuable than gold. The anticipation of millions of wonderful milliseconds and the possible dread of the teenage years. She is hope eternal. Endless potential and parental pressure beauty and charm or lack of motivation only God knows. Loved, cherished, worshipped, adored my baby. Grandfathers apples memes reason to pray proof there is a God and that he is certainly good. Csection baby brought into the world through blood and indeed guts. Love, Dad

Brinkley’s impact on me and my family won’t soon be forgotten. From the minute I first met her while discussing her English summer reading project (and ordering her a $5 book to complete it), to awkwardly introducing her to my daughter, Rebecca, as “someone who can help you with that project, no problem”, to long conversations about her high school courses and college dreams (as her counselor), to her becoming Rebecca’s best friend and Lauren’s friend, and all of us having many, many conversations on endless topics, I knew she was the kind of girl destined to have impact wherever she went. She was a talented and intelligent young lady with an uncanny ability to adapt to any changes or social or educational environments that she found herself in and a life full of endless possibilities in front of her. I was blessed to be able to know her and to help guide her (as the high school counselor) and along the way she taught me a thing or two. I will hold those lessons close to my heart and use them to guide me through my life.

My sweet Brinkley,
We never know when God will be ready to call us home. I thank God that I know where you are today. I thank God for all the precious memories that we have to keep us going. I thank God that he blessed my life with you and Carter. I am broken hearted that I didn't get to say goodbye to you. I miss your beautiful smile and your contagious laughter. I will miss the countless hours of sitting at my kitchen table with you and Carter playing games the most. Also, the fact that you made up the rules as we played. lol I watched you grow up through the years and am so thankful that I got to come to your graduation. It meant the world to me. I remember watching "Say Yes To The Dress" with you and us talking about your wedding one day. Carter would be right with us voicing his opinion. I remember snuggling with ya'll as we watched TV. Oh what I would give to have one more hug.
I know and believe that God doesn't make mistakes. As hard and excruciating as the pain is I know your with God. I firmly believe that as soon as he welcomed you into his loving arms you were healed. I know that Marty was waiting in line to hug you and welcome you. I have one promise to hold on to Brink. ONE DAY SOON I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN. I LOVE YOU SWEET GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

In 2000, as Brinkley's paternal grandmother, I was blessed to visit my family. Brinkley loved to sing and dance. As a toddler, Leah and I took Brinkley and Carter with Leah's kids to a beach. Brinkley wore a pink polka dot bikini. She was adorable. Brinkley loved watching movies and doing cart wheels. When Brinkley was a pre-teen, she and Carter came to stay with Ken and me in Colorado. Each morning they opened a surprise box. Several years ago, Brinkley baked my birthday cake. It was delicious! Spending time with her was a precious treasure. I'll never forget my beautiful, smart, joyful granddaughter. Love you always Brinkley!

I remember the joy and energy Brinkley brought to Harvey Brown Elementary School. The 2005 kindergarten class holds a special place in my heart. The three B’s were always together. Brett and Bernard will surely miss their Brinkley!

On the first day of Kindergarten, Brinkley entered my room like a golden hair Diva. She was always smiling, happy and ready to learn. She was the highlight of my day. She kept me on my toes with in inquisitive ways. My favorite year of teaching is all because of her.
Mike and Melissa you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love you all.
