Calvin Lee Null

He was a carpenter and a fisherman following in the footsteps of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His remodel construction business allowed him to touch many lives in and around the Burnet area. He was truly a jack of all trades and could build or repair almost anything. Calvin could see the potential in the worst of places and in all people he met.

Fishing was a great love that was passed down from his father, grandfather and grandmother. Many people in the Silver Creek area knew his grandmother and her love for catching fish. She would wade out to fish before the lake water got warm enough to swim in and Calvin was usually right there with her. He always said that she was the reason that the state lowered the limit on how many fish you could catch each day. He loved white bass fishing on Lake Buchanan in the spring and fishing at the coast any time of year. One of his favorite places was Padre Island National Seashore.

Another love was BBQing and cooking for family and friends. If something could be grilled, smoked or cooked on a griddle, he knew how to do it, and it was always wonderful. He never turned down an opportunity to cook no matter what the size of the gathering, sometimes staying up most of the night to make sure it was perfect.

He loved hanging out with his Men’s MEATing group, cooking steaks and sharing life with them. But the biggest love and joy of his life, besides Jesus, was his family.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nikki, sister, Lynda Herron of Burnet, children, Anthony ‘Shaun’ Null and wife Rebecca of Belton, Shannon Lucas and husband Mark of Buchanan Dam, Joshua Null and wife Ali of Devine, and Ryan Null and wife Afton of Highland Haven as well as 13 grandchildren – Micah Rothermel, Jocelyn Brewer, Abby Rothermel and fiancé Frank Eidelbach, Jackson Null, Luke Rothermel, Paisley, Ryder, Penny, Twyla, Millie, Harper, Tessa and Taya Null, great grandson, Enzo Hernandez, as well as a whole host of cousins, in-laws, friends, two old dogs, a herd of deer, and all the fish he won’t catch now.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Dorothy Null, grandparents Ralph and Era Null, Durham and Bertie Mae Bingham, and nephew Gregory Massey.

A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, September 5th, at 11:00 am at Hope Fellowship Church, 709 N. Water St. Burnet, TX 78611.

The family has asked to get the word out for all of Calvin's friends to wear their favorite fishing shirt to the memorial service in honor of Calvin.
