AOCM Charles Winfred Tyler, age 77, of Liberty Hill, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 29, 2021, on National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day, in Cedar Park, TX. “Chuck” was born March 4, 1944, in Foreman, AR, to Aubry and Kathleen Tyler. At the age of 3, the family moved to Andrews, TX and at the age of 17, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Buddy System. There are many freedom-loving stories to be told between those years and many more wild-hair shenanigans during his time serving in the Navy. Chuck married his baby doll, Carolyn Diane Nelson, April 10, 1967 in Calhoun County Texas. They moved all over together creating a family and establishing their roots in their heart. Faithfully, giving his best years of life in service to our Country, Chuck climbed the ranks to become an E-9, Master Chief Petty Officer, the highest enlisted rank in the U.S. Navy, retiring 1987 in Jacksonville, FL. Chuck and Carolyn decided to move to Texas soon after retirement and in 2011 moved one last time together to Liberty Hill, TX. If Chuck were to be summed up in one word, it would be “Hero”, especially in the eyes of his daughters. To them, there was nothing he could not do. He loved with all his heart, he knew no prejudices, he had the talents of many men, creative, intelligent, fun, generous, and fierce. His girls felt safe and secure with him as their Daddy. All great gifts to have, but his greatest gift was that of a teacher. You see, he was a hero because he taught his girls to possess all these qualities themselves, so they would grow up strong and loving just as he was and have the strength to take care of themselves if ever, he was not around. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Aubry and Kathleen Tyler; two sisters, Carolyn Tyler and Aubraleen Saucer; four brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Diane Tyler; four daughters, Theresa Lynn Tyler of Jacksonville FL, Tina Stewart (Britt) of Streetman, TX, Carolyn Rose of Midway, TX, Rayleen Nelson (Robert) of Marble Falls, TX; 13 beautiful grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Tyler (Fern) of San Angelo, TX, Jerry Tyler (Linda) of Centerville, TX, sisters, Terri Giles of Liberty Hill, TX, and Tammi Dutton (Randy) of Carlsbad, NM; and so many more loving family members. Funeral Service will be held at Clements-Wilcox Chapel in Burnet, TX on April 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow the services at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram, TX, April 1, 2021. Pastor Kenneth Womack officiating. Pallbearers: Eric Tyler, Ronnie McGinty, Dwight Rose, Mike Warwick, John Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Kade Caddell and Heath Nelson. Visitation will be held at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, TX on March 31, 2021 at 5:00 pm. The family would like to remind all their loved ones, to live in the moment, love with an open heart, be kind and generous, forgive quickly, and cherish every moment of your life.
