
Elizabeth Jean Houston was born on April 16, 1951, to parents Richard Sanders, Sr. and Dorothy Sanders. She was the youngest sibling born to this union. Elizabeth passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m. She lived to be 75 years young.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Sanders, Jr.; her nieces, Brandy Sanders and Renee Bird; her grand-niece, Brittany Conley; her father and mother Richard Sanders, Sr.and Dorothy Sanders; and most recently, her sister, Dorothy Johnson.
Elizabeth was baptized at St. Matthew's A.M.E. Church at an early age and remained a believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, all her life. She graduated from Burnet High School and met Rufus Houston, whom she later married in 1972. To this union was born a daughter, Natalie Houston, in 1978.
Elizabeth loved watching Westerns and soap operas, cooking and watching cooking shows, and gardening. She enjoyed being a caregiver while working for Texas Home Health. She was a loving wife and mother, and she and Rufus celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Rufus Houston; her daughter, Natalie Houston (Brent); her nieces, Denisse McLemore and Erica Smith (Wayne); grand-nephews Jaden Southern, (Jasmine) and Eric Conley; her sisters-in-law, Eula Wright (JP) and Freddie Houston; and a host of other family and friends.
