Elvia Garcia

December 7, 1943September 12, 2020

Our family’s heart was broken on the morning of September 12, 2020, to see my Dad lose his soul mate, his partner in crime, and the love of his life for over 60 years, AKA Momma when she took her last breath. God needed her more than we did it just seems like we are pretending to understand why. Last night she had lots of her family around her. We shared precious moments of our lives with her, she smiled as she listened and nodded in agreement or shook her finger as to say nononono. It was truly a blessing to have the opportunity to share her last night with her and hopefully made her happy one last time.

Elvia Arredondo graced this world with her presence on December 7, 1943 in Mercedes, Texas to Benito and Antonia Arredondo. She married Frank R. Garcia on December 23, 1959, they lived an amazing and adventures life together for 60 years, in Corpus Christi Texas with the last 4 years in Burnet Texas. Elvia Garcia raised her 4 children while working as a stay at home mom, then when her children were of school age she worked for the Social Service department, and later cafeteria manager for West Oso School District where she retired. Elvia was proceeded in death by her loving parents and beloved sister, Eufemia Vasquez. She is survived by her devoted husband Frank R. Garcia, their 4 children: Sandy Hernandez (Carlos) from Alamogordo New Mexico, Frank R. Garcia Jr. (Clara) from Corpus Christi, Texas, Joann Long (Dee) from Burnet, Texas, and Gracie Hietkam (Jon) from San Antonio Texas. Elvia had 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one on the way, 1 great great grandchild, and two brothers and three sisters. She has numerous other family members and friends that loved her dearly. This amazing woman will be deeply missed. Fly high with your Golden Wings you will always be in our hearts.

A Memorial Service for Elvia is pending at this time. Memorial contributions in memory of Elvia should be made to the Hill Country Humane Society 9150 W Ranch Road 1431 Buchanan Dam, Texas 78609.

The family would like to acknowledge Altus Hospice for their care of Elvia during her final illness.

I will never forget how she was the driving force to search for her family roots that led her and Frank along with their young family into my life. We grew closer together throughout the past 50 plus years. She became like the sister I never had and I was so proud of my big brother. I was blown away by my amazing nieces and nephew. I am going to miss our long phone calls and her positive feedback. Just know that we will continue our visits and remain close cause I know she will expect no less.

I have such fond and happy memories visiting Tio Frank and Tia Elvia along with Sandy and Frankie. My dad and mom, Pablo and Lucila, would take my two brothers, Paul and Tom, and me to visit and we usually went to the beach. It was a great time. We did not get to see them very often but when we did it was so enjoyable. I could tell that my mom and dad loved them both along with their children very much and wanted us to feel the same. We love you Tio Frank and pray that the Lord Jesus will comfort you and your entire family.

Much grace,
Armando Gonzales
