She grew up in Argenschwang Germany and attended a Lutheran school until 8th grade. Erika met her husband Layman Light in Germany at a guesthouse she was working, he threw a banana peel at her, which caused her to slip and fall breaking all the dishes she was carrying. They were married May 2, 1962.
Erika enjoyed cooking, sewing, and painting, traveling, camping and gambling (the one-arm bandits were her favorite) and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She got her citizenship in 1979.
Her children Marvin Light and Peggy F. Chelette, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren with one on the way, survive her.
Erika is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
A memorial service celebrating Erika’s life will be Monday November 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney McGee officiating. A private burial of Erika's cremated remains will take place later at Six Mile Cemetery near Llano.
Care has been entrusted to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
