Florence Lanell Gunn Oriaifo was born September 10, 1966 at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California to Sidney and Lois Gunn.
Since her father was in the military for first through third grades, Lanell attended schools in Mississippi, Philippines, and Missouri. Then her family moved to Texas and she attended schools in Galena Park ISD and graduated from North Shore High School in 1984.
After graduation she worked in retail sales and in education as a special education aide in Sheldon and Alief school districts for several years. Later she pursued a career in the medical field. She attended and graduated from a health career academy to become a certified Texas licensed LVN. She worked for more than twenty-five years as a nurse in hospitals and nursing homes. She always said nursing was her God given ministry. She lovingly cared for the patients with an empathetic heart no matter how challenging the situations were. She received many notes of appreciation and praise from the patients and their families.
Lanell accepted Christ into her life and was baptized, uniting with the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Clinton Park, Texas.
Lanell was preceded in death by her father Sidney Gunn, maternal grandparents Rufus and Florence Mullen, paternal grandparents Harold Gunn and Nellie Taueg, uncles Edward Mullen, Charles Mullen, Virgil Taueg, Rufus Mullen Jr., and cousin Chris Mullen.
She leaves to cherish her memories son Donald Bowers III and his father Donald Bowers II, mother Lois Gunn, brother Lance Gunn (Tracey), uncles George Mullen (Regina), Kenneth Gunn, aunts Marietta Bowman (Robert), Estell Tramble, Patty Taueg, niece Taegen Gunn, nephew Tynan Gunn, cousins Sierra Mullen, George Mullen, Shontaye Bowman, Marquis Bowman, Lupe DeLarusa, Jeremiah Mullen, Natasha Mullen Gill, Randy Mullen, Rufus Mullen III, Michael Mullen, Janel Heinz, Bryan Taueg, Chad Taueg, family friends James and Nita Lear, Bowers family, Rose family, Craven family, Sims family, special caring friend/co-worker Araceli Hernandez and a host of other friends and relatives.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. A Celebration of Life will occur Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet with the interment to be held at Post Mountain Cemetery.
