How ironic that my husband, Steve Goodmon, and Jerry passed away within 6 days of each other. When we moved to this area, not knowing anyone, we were SO fortunate to have Lakeland Plumbing recommended to us. What a wonderful job (to this day) Jerry and the crew did on our plumbing. Thank you. We look forward to continued service through Karl and Eric. Jerry, you were indeed a compliment to this community and we send our condolences to each family member for the peace of God to surround you and uphold you through these days (John 14:27). You are, indeed, entering a new life without your precious husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Fran Goodmon

Jerry will always be remembered & missed. I thank Hoot for giving Dana to my brother when Karl asked for her hand in marriage, for giving me another sister to love & grow up with, for being a father to Karl & loving him as a son, for being a Man of God & teaching everyone to Love the Lord, for showing that family always comes second only to God! My prayers are with Lynn & family as they go through this time of loss.

Jerry was more than a father-in-law to me, he was a christian role model. His faith, belief and mental strength were truly amazing to me. He was a loving, caring family man who always made me feel like family. He will be missed dearly and I am so grateful to have known him and for everything he ever did for me.

To Lynn, Dana, Amy & Eric
I can only imagine the heart break and sadness you must feel and I am so sorry for your loss. Just know that he is watching down on you and that the love in his heart will see you through this tough time.

Love and prayers.

Whether plumbing, running a business, fishing, hunting, no matter what, Hoot (Jerry) was always willing to take someone under his arm to mentor, lead, and love them. He always had a welcoming smile on his face.

We're so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are all in our prayers for peace and comfort as you go through this time. We're thankful that Hoot is with Jesus, and no longer in pain.

Love from Kristin, Steve, and Peyton

Just like Cousin Danny, I too have fond memories of the years in Bertram staying with Ma-Maw and Pa-Paw. Jerry was still in elementary school when I was born, so from my earliest memories I considered him my big brother instead of my uncle.

I remember getting angry at him when he tried to cut the rhinestones out of my Sunday shoes and him getting angry at me when I tattled and told his mother that I caught him smoking a cigarette. One day he taught me to shake out my shoes before putting my feet in them and as he demonstrated how to do it, a huge centipede fell out of his boot!

Then -- life happens. We grow up, start careers, families, and somehow, we all lose touch.

Jerry was so excited in 2016 when we attempted to reunite the descendants of his parents, William Boyd and Mary Lee Christian. This of course included the children, grand-children, and great grandchildren of Jerry and his siblings: Doris Christian Harlow, James Christian, Billy Christian, Wilma Christian Bowles, Virginia Christian Baker and Sue Christian Fox.

What a crowd! At one point during the reunion Jerry caught me and asked, "Did you ever imagine that a reunion could be this great?". Today I say: Yes, I can. He is there now reunited with his parents, his sister Doris, and all those ancestors he loved to track in his genealogy studies. I can imagine him praising God right now just as he did while he was here on earth!

Thanks be to God for his promise of salvation to those who believe in the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May we all walk in the Light as He is in the Light so that we may have fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ, his Son will cleanse us from all sin. (John 3:16, 1 John 1:7)

Save a seat at the table for us, Uncle Jerry!

I have many fond memories of Jerry.
when Mamaw and Papaw lived in Bertram I would go spend a couple of weeks with them during the summer when I was very young. I spent a lot of time with Jerry exploring the countyside, hunting rabbits and shooting his 22. He taught me how to make slingshots out of cedar forks and old tire rubber. Those were wonderful times in my early years and I have never forgotten them. Jerry was special and we will all miss him dearly. Rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus.

Jerry was a strong Christian Man, very friendly, always smiling. He was a Man of Great Ethics, a man you could point to and say that man is a loving and caring family man. I am truly saddened by his family and all of our great loss. You have my prayers and best wishes in this trying time Christian family. Take comfort Jerry is resting with the angels and all his beloved family and friends in Heaven. It is hard to believe this now but time does heal all wounds, take it one day at a time. God bless you all.
