He leaves behind his two sons Johnny Mata (Bernie) and Jason Mata (Consuelo), five daughters Susie Guzman (Joe), Judy Mata Baladez, Kathy Salazar (Roy), Donna Smith (Rodney) Stacy Mata (Stephanie), two grandsons Matthew Guzman and Rian Salazar, five granddaughters Kara (Aaron), Laura (Michael), Leticia (Steven), Abigail, and Isabella and one great granddaughter Lilian.
Juan was preceded in death by his son Larry, both his mom and dad and his brothers Esteban, Guillermo and Santiago Jr and one sister Bertha.
He was a fun, loving, and caring man. Uncle Matey to most, Mata to some, he loved to laugh and make others laugh. Dad loved to joke and always made friends. He spent most of his life as a carpenter, a painter, a jack of all trades.
We always had plenty of things to talk about with our Pops. He spent most of his days with his two best buds Felix and Walter. You could find him most mornings at El Rancho in Burnet or Good Grazin in Bertram. He loved his Spurs and enjoyed fishing, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.
Visitation will be Friday September 8, 2017 at 6:00 pm and Rosary at 7:00 pm at Vandeveer St. Church of Christ in Burnet.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bertram. Interment will follow at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet.
Arrangements were made by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
