Keith Smith, a lifelong resident of the Bertram area, passed away on July 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with COPD. Born October 10, 1939, he grew up on a farm in Gabriel Mills at the forks of Clear Creek and spent most of his life near his childhood home.
Keith lived a full life as a farmer, cattle rancher, lineman, carpenter, ranch foreman, and hunting guide. He loved music, horses, baseball, Blue Lacy dogs, wild turkeys, family gatherings, and time with lifelong friends. A guitar picker, songwriter, and "singer of simple songs," Keith was known for his generous heart, kindness, and deep love for his family and animals.
He is survived by his wife, Aldeen; children Tracy Sherrod, Michael Smith and wife Robbie, and Gaylon Smith and wife Rachel; grandchildren Josh Sherrod, Jordan Sherrod, Suzanne Salinas and husband Justin, Rachel Durett and husband Joe, Aston Smith, and Abby Smith; and great-grandchild Witten Moore.

A Graveside at Bear Creek Cemetery will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram, TX, on August 6, 2026.
