Lavelta McVicker (88) was born in late October, 1934 in Magdalena, New Mexico. She was the daughter of R.B. and Anna Sylvia King. She was raised alongside her three brothers, Eldon, Lester, and Clayton.
Vel was an amazing woman. She was a roller skating aficionado, a bicycle-built-for-two riding master, a lifelong traveler and lover of books. She was strong in her faith, and taught as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Vel took pride in her work for many years as the VP of a construction firm in El Paso, Texas.
She was a proud wife to Richard “Burt” McVicker for 68 years. Vel was also a proud mother to Michael, grandmother to Bonnie, and great-grandmother to Charlotte. She was a helper and a blessing to those around her.
Vel passed peacefully and surrounded by love on the morning of May 25th, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Burt, and her granddaughter and great-granddaughter. She will be deeply missed by many, but we know that we will meet her again someday.
Services will be held on Sunday, June 25th at 2:00 PM at the First Assembly of God in Marble Falls.
