Linda Gail Jones

Linda Jones (Cone) 68 of Buchanan Dam, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services were held in Burnet on June 8, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Burnet at 3:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa on June 16, 2017 at 4:00 pm.

She was born on June 26, 1948 in Concord, California to Elmer and Barbara (Henderson) Ray. After graduating high school in San Angelo, she went on to attend Angelo State University. After attending college, she married Darrell Cone in 1971. While in the Permian Basin, Linda worked for Phillips 66, Tuboscope and Kelly’s Pipe Inspection. She was very involved with the annual Oil Patch Kids Golf Tournament.

On February 4, 2006 she married Alfred ‘Durwood’ Jones in Gardendale. After retiring in 2008 they moved to Buchanan Dam and began a wonderful life together. When not traveling, Linda and Durwood were very involved with their church family at First Baptist Church in Burnet. Linda looked forward to working Main Street Bethlehem each year at the church. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, her wonderful smile, twinkle in her eyes and vibrant personality will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Durwood Jones; sisters Cindy O’Connor and husband Jim and Sharon Ray; daughters, Krista Brunson and husband Jonathan and Tara VanSteenburgh and husband David; stepsons Chris Jones and wife Tara and Jason Jones; grandchildren, Jacoby Springfield, Brinley Brunson, Kaden VanSteenburgh, Kasen Brunson, Fredrick VanSteenburgh, Kailee Berkshire, Allie Jones, Bryce Corn, Brendon Corn; six nephews and three nieces and many ‘Best Friends’!

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Barbara Ray, first husband Darrell Cone, and brother Rick Ray.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be directed to First Baptist Church, 108 S. Vanderveer, Burnet, Texas 78611.
