Loma Kinser Boyd

BOYD, Loma Kinser. Died October 25, 2013 at her residence, Country Oaks at Hamilton Creek in Burnet, Texas just a month after her 95th birthday. She was born September 20, 1918 to Lillie and Austin Kinser, and grew up on the family farm outside Burnet. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Austin to work and attend business college, and subsequently worked for nearly 40 years in the business office and in patient relations for the Treadwell & Treadwell optometry practice in the capital city.

Mrs. Boyd was the widow of Bradford Columbus Boyd, and in addition to her parents, also was predeceased by a sister, Mona Ruth Jennings.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie and son-in-law John Van Mol, Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren Derek (Marcie) Van Mol, and Millicent V. Cash, also of Nashville; great grandchildren Mary Holine and Ryan Van Mol; and Emaline and Annalise Cash.

Mrs. Boyd is also survived by her sister Doris Hasty of Burnet; niece Lavada (Clifton) Lewis of Burnet; and nephews Thomas (Renea) Hasty, Houston, TX., and Doyle (Susan) Jennings, Boerne, TX, as well as numerous great-neices and great-nephews.

Mrs. Boyd was known for her giving spirit and unconditional love she extended to everyone she met. She spent many years as an active member of Wilshire Presbyterian Church in Austin, and was a long-time volunteer at Seton Hospital. She also endeared herself to her fellow residents at Country Oaks Assisted Living in Burnet. Her hobbies included all kinds of sewing handwork, reading, antiquing and china painting.

A memorial service will be held at Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet, at 1 pm. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. The family will receive friends at Country Oaks at Hamilton Creek immediately following the service. A private interment will be held at a later date, next to Mr. Boyd at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
