Lucas Lewis Spaw, born May 17, 1979 in Atlanta, GA, died January 13, 2023, after a serious injury. He is survived by his beloved son and best friend, Dagen Spaw, his ex-wife Jessica, father and mother, Ray and Vickie Spaw, sisters Rhiannon (Mario), Amelia (Derrick) and brother Jacob (Sara). He is also survived by nephews Levi, Fisher, Isaac and niece Gwen. He was preceded by his grandparents, Raymond and Elsie Spaw and Jesse and Ileen Lewis.
Lucas spent four years in the army as a tank driver and was a decorated combat veteran and is still lifelong friends with his “brother” John Hutchison. During his enlistment, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal (2 awards), Good Conduct Medal, Army and Overseas Service Ribbons, NATO Medal and Kosovo Campaign Medal with one bronze star.
He was an apprentice electrician the last few years, a job he dearly loved.
Lucas’s final act of kindness from his never-ending big heart was to be an organ donor. He was able to give the gift of life, donating his heart and kidneys. We are forever grateful that something so good came from such a terrible tragedy. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to PTSD Foundation of America, at PTSDusa.org, supporting combat vets in need.
Interment will be at the Central Texas Veterans’ Cemetery at a later date. The held a private memorial service”.
