Marcus Estes

January 17, 1975July 14, 2019

Our beloved husband and father, Jesse Marcus “Marc” Estes, of Sarita, Texas, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 12, 2019, at the age of 44.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lesley Estes, along with their five children, Taylor, Noah, Jesse, Vensley, and Emily; his parents Bob and Kay Estes; his brother Daniel Estes and his wife Romey; his brother-in-law Payton Bridges and his wife Candace; his in-laws Calvin and Emily Sellers; three nephews, Braden Turner, Xander Estes, and Eli Bridges; two nieces, Mia Estes and Elle Bridges and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his brother Robert Brian Estes, maternal grandparents Jesse M. and Nancy Lois Scott, and paternal grandparents Robert Blaine and Ollie Gene Estes.

Marc married his beautiful wife Lesley on August 13, 1994, in Baytown, Texas. Two years later they welcomed their first-born son, Taylor. After years of wanting to add to their family they were blessed to grow their family through the adoption of their two sons, Noah and Jesse, both born in Korea. In 2009, their family grew again through the miracle birth of their only daughter, Emily. A year later, during a mission trip to Haiti, Marc met a little boy named Vensley, and felt called to adopt him, completing their family of seven.

Marc put 110% into everything that he did, professionally and personally. While working in the steam tracing and hydraulic business for over two decades, he served his community in other capacities just as passionately as he served his professional career. Most recently, he served on the School Board for Kenedy County Common Wide School District.

Marc was a man of faith, and throughout the years, served God through his participation in various faith-driven organizations including his service as Chairman of the Board of Brent Gambrell Ministries and his final role as Chairman of the Board for Life Ansanm. Marc has led numerous mission trips to Haiti over the years and touched many lives along the way.

In addition to his career, Marc served as a Deputy Reserve for Harris County Precinct 3 and Galena Park Police Department for many years. He ended his law enforcement career in 2018 after serving as Assistant Chief Deputy for the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office. He supported various other agencies through his service and enjoyed every minute of protecting and serving the people.

Marc’s greatest joy in life came from serving Jesus and loving his family. He was a member of Second Baptist Baytown for many years and attended Church Unlimited in Corpus Christi.

A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Friday, July 19, from 2pm – 5pm, at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center (1730 West Corral Avenue, Kingsville, Texas).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Marc’s memory to Life Ansanm (https://lifeansanm.org/donate/)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

While there are many memories of my childhood with Marc in it, the two that I will always remember is him putting together my first bike as my dad was working and I just couldn’t wait! I also had the privilege of being the flower girl in their beautiful wedding. My family and I are thinking about you guys during this most difficult of times.

I’ll always remember the two of you meeting at Sears while I worked down the mall at Chess King! Such great times we had from me as a third wheel to double dates , trips, marriage, and kids. He leaves a great legacy! Love you all!
