September 6, 1970 – September 9, 2026
John Matthew “Matt” Parks, 56, passed away on September 9, 2026, just three days after celebrating his birthday.
Matt was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose levity and kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Matt is survived by his beloved wife, LaDaunn, and his son, Kaleb, who were at the center of his life and his heart. He is also survived by his parents Glynda and Tom, and his sister, Amanda and Daniel Dozier and their children. Mother in-law Barbara Johnson, aunt Jan Goodman and Uncle Jerry Parks.
Matt had a special way of making people feel welcome. He never met a stranger. Whether he had known someone for years or had just met them, Matt had a genuine ability to connect with people and make them feel like old friends. His smile, his conversation, and his jovial nature left an impression on everyone he encountered.
Matt also shared a special bond with Rufus, his beloved dog and faithful companion. Rufus was an important part of Matt’s life and family.
Matt’s lasting effect will be the comfort he gave to his family and friends and the many lives he touched along the way. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Though his time with us was far too short, Matt leaves behind memories that will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness, humor, friendship, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will never be forgotten.
He never met a stranger—and everyone who met Matt was better for having known him.
May he rest in peace.
