

She loved to sing and was part of the Briggs Hayloft Gang in her younger years. She graduated from Florence High School in 1935. Mildred married Gordon Williams in 1937 and together they had two daughters. Barbara in 1938 and Marilyn in 1946. In 1956 Mildred and Gordon divorced.
Mildred graduated from Florence High School in 1935 and later earned her degree as an RN from the University of Houston and then served for many years as the school nurse in the Galena Park ISD in Houston. She retired and later moved to Leander where she again was the school nurse for several years.
She met Arthur Bocanegra at a creative writing class in the late seventies and they became a couple in 1981. They were inseparable and made their home in Corpus Christi and later in Kerrville until his death in 2003.
She resided in Lampasas since 2004 and lived in an apartment on her own until a fall in 2018. She resided in Lilly Springs Healthcare Center since then.
She loved her U of H Cougar basketball teams, the Spurs, Dean Martin and music.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Marilyn Stone, her soulmate Arthur Bocanegra, her parents, and many relatives over the years.
She is survived by her sister, Edrie Earle Parsons of Center. Daughter Barbara Drosche and husband Wayne of Meadowlakes. Son in law Bill Stone of Lampasas. Niece Lynda Kaye Russell of Center. Grandson Travis Brautigam and wife Carol of Georgetown. Granddaughter Jeannie Elizabeth of Ashevile,NC. Grandson Paul Petkovsky and wife Mindy of McKinney. Great Grandson Travis Brautigam Jr and wife Ashley of Kansas City.MO. Great granddaughter Kelsie Brautigam of Taylor. Great great granddaughter Cheyanne Sparks and great great grandson Trey Brautigam.
A graveside service for Mildred will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 25 at the Mahomet Cemetery with Reverend John Davenport officiating. Those named as pallbearers were Bill Stone, Ron Wilkie, Paul Petkovsky, Eddie Whitehead, Alan Whitehead and Travis Brautigam.
The family would like to extend a special note of appreciation to the staff of Lily Springs Healthcare Center of Lampasas for the excellent care they gave to our Meme.
A special thank you and love to Regina Blitz for her faithful friendship, extra care, and love she showed Meme over the last five years while at Lily Springs.
