Rilla Mahoney

Rilla Francis Terry Mahoney was born in Clyde Texas on December 21, 1932. Rilla married James John Mahoney on April 14, 1951and she faithfully worked along side James as a minister’s wife at Valley Grove Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas and Elmdale Baptist Church in Elmdale, Texas. Rilla proudly served the people of Taylor County Texas as the District Clerk from 1981 to 1993. In May 1993 Rilla received the Liberty Bell Award for community service from the Abilene Young Lawyers Association.

Rilla is survived by her children David and Cindy Mahoney of Hutto, Texas, Cathy and Jim Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, Becky and Duane Fox of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, four grandchildren Lindie Hart, Laurie Brown, Marissa Mahoney, Nicholas Mahoney, four great grandchildren, Harrison and Catherine Hart, Blake and Miles Brown, and brother H. B. Terry. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James John Mahoney on March 12, 2011.

Rilla went home to be with her Lord on Sunday May 15, 2011. The family would like to express thanks to all the staff of the Oaks Nursing Center of Burnet, Texas for their compassionate care and kindness.

The viewing will be held Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Baily-Howard Funeral Home, 105 Oaks Street, Clyde, Texas from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Elmdale Baptist Church, 233 Elmdale Road South, Elmdale Road South,
