
Ruth Marlene Gordon age 88 passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at her home in Burnet. She will be laid to rest at a family gathering at Lakeland Hills Memorial park beside her daughter Rhonda who died in 2007 and her late husband Jim "Corky" Gordon who died in 2017.
"Marlene", as she was known to her family, is survived by her brothers Jerry "Jake" Redd and William A. "Bill" Redd and by sister Glenda Mae Lighty. Also surviving are her grandsons Jeff and Jamie Nickerson and numerous other family members. Along with her daughter and husband Marlene was preceded in death by her sister Mary and brothers Dean and Dayul.
Marlene was born June 12, 1932, in Hutchinson, Kansas where she grew up and attended school. There she met Jim "Corky" Gordon who she later married. His military career took them many places, among them Alaska and California. She worked in the grocery store, worked as a nurse, and later a receptionist. Eventually they came to Texas and then to Burnet.
Marlene is remembered to have enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of her flowers. She took piano lessons and liked to sew. Her family has many fond memories and stories of her and she will be missed.
