Walter Shawn Dunn, a true gentle soul, walked peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 28, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born on a beautiful summer day on June 25, 1970, in Reno, Nevada, Shawn was the beloved son of Robert and Patsy Dunn. At the age of 12 moving back to Texas where he would spend the rest of his life.
Shawn attended West High School in West, Texas, and later earned his High School Equivalency Diploma. Driven by a desire to learn, he continued his education at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) in Waco, Texas, where he studied Electronics Technology and Horticulture, ultimately earning his associate degree Horticulture.
Shawn was a faithful servant of the Lord; he walked through life trusting God’s plan above all else. Shawn’s personality was like no other, his rare, steady patience and unwavering kindness. Family and friends will forever treasure the fact that he never became angry or lashed out at anyone, moving through this world with grace and an open heart. Shawn greeted every person he encountered with respect, deep honesty, and a natural loving disposition. Leaving behind a legacy of absolute integrity and deep caring for others. Shawn loved playing card games, dominoes, karaoke, summer swimming at the Blue Hole Park, shooting pool, drinking sweet iced tea and listening to music. Shawn and his life partner Cathy shared their home with loving chihuahuas who brought endless love, laughter, and joy to their home. Shawn’s deep caring and love for Cathy was shown through his daily acts of profound kindness and constant presence. Shawn’s gentle presence and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his life partner of 24 years, Cathy Tieman, and his loving siblings, sister Patty Fulton, brothers Robbin Dunn, Johnny Dunn, Neal Dunn, and Tim Dunn and wife Dixcey, sister Brenda and husband Alfred Fisher, his loving Aunt Chanae Dennewitz, Uncle Clark Dunn and spouse Stacy, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patsy Dunn.
The funeral service for Shawn will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.
