Sydney Mitchell was living at 5003 W FM 2147 in Horseshoe Bay, Texas at the time of her passing on May 15, 2024. Born in Dallas, Texas to Marcial Mitchell and Judy Malone-Hyde on March 19 of 1963. She graduated from Burnet High School in 1981 and later moved to Oklahoma at 25, where she made a choice to begin her path to sobriety. She then met and married Michael Naifeh and became an astonishing, loving, mother to Hailey and Zoe Naifeh.
As a newly single mother she opened her own nail salon business called Sydney’s Place where she did what she loved most-making new friends and providing unsolicited therapy! While raising her two girls in Granbury, Texas with her mother Judy Hyde, she was a part of opening the Boys and Girls Club resale shop in Granbury. Giving back was an essential part of Sydney that was ultimately undeniable. She was a loving caretaker to her grandfather and later her mother, all the while raising her own daughters.
After Sydney found her nest empty, she chose to return to her hometown stomping grounds of Marble Falls, Texas. At age 55, she went on to earn her massage therapy license in Austin and continued her life’s work to help others with their pain before being diagnosed with cancer. Even through the difficulty of treatment while battling cancer for 6 years, she found a way to give back by participating in AA as a sponsor after 36 years of sobriety. Towards the last year of her life, she found the most peace spending those precious moments with the ones closest to her. Those same core people were able to spend her last moments together granting her the biggest wish of all, everyone being together to share the love she helped piece together so brilliantly.
Sydney Mitchell was not only a blessing to the immediate people around her, but a gift of freedom to this world. There never was a more undefined description of freedom with a morale standard than Sydney Mitchell.
