Family, Football, Fishing and Hunting best describes Virgil Lynn Spivey, our husband, father,
grandad and brother.
In 1965, he married Juanita Herring. His coaching career was mostly spent in the Texas Hill
Country from Robert Lee, Universal City, Fredericksburg, Junction, Rosebud, Llano and Burnet.
He is survived by his wife, Nita, three sons and their wives, Toby and Lizzie, Cory and Amanda,
Cody and Jen. He was also a proud grandfather of five: Austin, Chaz, Josie, Cash and Jake. He
is also survived by his brother and his wife, Stan and Marilyn. He is preceded in death by his
parents, Virgil C. Spivey and Juanita Johnson Spivey of Waco.
Even though he had numerous coaching honors, the most important part of his coaching career
was always the kids. He taught drivers education along with coaching football and track. He
served as an athletic director/head coach for 17 years of his career.
If you really want to honor Coach Spivey, reach out and help a young person. We are certain he
is coaching a team of angels at this moment.
