Virginia Jo Burleson Crawford

Virginia Jo Crawford was born on January 1, 1930 in Liberty Hill, Texas to Jim and Pauline Smith Burleson. She passed peacefully in her sleep on February 28, 2014 at her home in Granbury, Texas. She attended school in Burnet and was an active member of both the drama club and the acapella choir. In 1948, she married Herschel Crawford and had five children. Over the years, she was a devoted wife and mother who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a homemaker and was always active in her children’s activities. The light of her eye were her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Virginia is survived by sons Herschel Jr and Pat Crawford of Granbury, TX; Edward Earl and Debra Crawford of Johnson City, TX; daughters Virginia and Bobby Cason of Kerrville, TX; and Nancy and Dan Tomlinson of Brady, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one child, Danna Jo. Grandson Tori Crawford. Jo was known for her love of reading and shared that love with those around her. She also loved to visit with friends and family and was known for always being a strong figure in their lives. She will always be remembered for her kindness toward others and strong will.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Oatmeal Church of Christ in Oatmeal, Texas. Interment will follow at the Oatmeal Cemetery.
