Wanda Ham

Wanda P. Ham age 86 of Burnet passed away February 13, 2018. She was born May 21, 1931, in Amarillo to Howard and Florence (Murray) Pugh. Her childhood was spent in Amarillo where she graduated from high school in 1949. Wanda met and later married Ross Ham from Lamesa. Wanda and Ross moved to Burnet in 1968 following his parents from Odessa

Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burnet where she attended Sunday School and sometimes sang in the choir. She also for many years was an active member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Burnet Chamber of Commerce. She contributed many hours as a volunteer for Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center, Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, and the YMCA at Galloway-Hammond. She helped with fundraising for Silverama, was a supporter of Al-Anon, Burnet Swimming, participated in the Walk to Emmaus, and was multiple times nominee of woman of the year. For many years she owned and operated Burnet Trophies and Awards. Family friend Tex Robertson lovingly referred to Wanda as Mrs. “Wanderful”. She had a very giving personality and leaves lots of friends.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Marilyn E. Ham of Youngstown, Ohio, son Steve Ham of Burnet, brother Gene Pugh and wife Jane of Lubbock, grandchildren Joshua W. Ham and wife Renee of Killeen, Andrew S. Ham of Burnet and Thomas A. Ham and wife Chelsi of Katy. Also surviving is her great grandson, the love of her life, John Robert Ham, also one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Hugh Sigler, husband Ross, and grandson Benjamin R. Ham.

The memorial service for Wanda will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11am at the Clements-Wilcox Chapel with Reverend Doug Lindley officiating. A private burial will follow at Post Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to locally to Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center or the Hill Country Community Foundation.

Wanda is "my other" Mother, I lived with her & Ross at Bonanza Beach for a year before I bought & moved Burnet Trophies from ELB into Burnet. Marilyn, Steve, and his boys are family. Wanda will be missed everyday.
Her "let go, let God" attitude got both of us through many a task. I love you.
