Wynoal Hemphill

Alicia Wynoal Pierce Hemphill, 77, formerly of Burnet and Austin, died Sunday, July 10, ending her long and courageous battle with Alzheimer. She was born December 25, 1938, in Wellington, Texas to Noal Pierce and LaVonia Grigsby Pierce. Wynoal grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated in the class 1957 from William B. Travis High School. While in high school Wynoal met the love of her life, Robert Terrell Hemphill. They were married at the Congress Avenue Baptist Church in Austin the day after Wynoal’s graduation from high school on June 4th, 1957. They had two children, Terrell Eugene Hemphill and Terri Elizabeth Hemphill Kuenstler.

Terrell and Wynoal lived and raised their family in Westlake Hills. After their children graduated from high school, they moved to her husband’s family ranch in Red Rock, Texas where they enjoyed the country life until Terrell’s passing, at which time Wynoal moved to Burnet, Texas to be close to family. While living in Burnet she worked many years at Camp Longhorn Indian Springs. Wynoal was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burnet where she enjoyed participating in the choir and the many church events that were held.

Wynoal’s greatest passion in life after her church were her family and many friends. She was a very happy, loving and caring person who had a zest for life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her “girl’s nights” out with her good friends in Burnet and Austin. She loved all life, she enjoyed her many trips to the Kuenstler family ranch at Oatmeal, where she never tired of watching the many baby goats, puppies and kittens romp and play.

Wynoal was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is Survived by her brother, Eddie Pierce and wife Betty of Atlanta, Georgia, son, Terrell Eugene Hemphill and wife Yvonne of Katy, Texas, daughter, Terri Hemphill Kuenstler and husband Jason of Midland, Texas, five grandson’s Austin Kuenstler, Weston Kuenstler, Jason “Beau” Kuenstler II, Ty Hemphill and Tanner Hemphill, nephew, Noal Pierce and wife Mary and grandniece, Molly Pierce.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, or the First Baptist Church of Burnet.

Funeral services were held July 18, 2016 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church in Burnet.

A private family burial followed at Red Rock Cemetery near Bastrop.
