

Marie Vestal passed away at Mayer's Memorial Hospital on January 9th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on August 19th, 1940, in Twin Falls, ID to Glen and Gladys Griffin. In December of 1947, Marie and her sister Marjorie moved to Lake Tahoe and grew up taking care of each other. Marie graduated from South Lake Tahoe High School and at age 18 years old moved to Fair Oaks, CA, to work at Aerojet in Sacramento. In the summer of 1965, Marie traveled to the Fall River Valley and met the love of her life, Dr. Tom Vestal and on November 25th, 1965, they were married. For the next 51 years Marie loved the ranch, her cows, but especially her family. She loved to bowl, play cards and follow her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and adventures. Ma will be greatly missed. Marie is survived by her mother, Gladys Gust; sister, Marjorie Stephens and brother-in-law, Robert; her sister Gayelynn Callen and brother in law Tim; her son, Mark Vestal and daughter-in-law, Diana; her daughter Tami Humphry and son-in-law Brian; her son, Hardy Vestal and daughter-in-law Chelle; and 9 grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2017, 1:00PM at the Intermountain Fair Grounds in McArthur, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Intermountain Fair Heritage Foundation, PO Box 10, McArthur, CA, 96056, or a charity of your choice.
In Memory of Dr. Thomas Jered Vestal
Dr. Tom Vestal passed away at Mayer's Memorial Hospital on January 8th, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on March 28th, 1939, in McCloud, CA, to Hardy and June Vestal. Tom spent the majority of his life in the Fall River Valley and spent his youth working on the family ranch. Tom was an active member in the McArthur FFA, ultimately receiving the American Farmer Degree. He graduated from Fall River High School in 1956, and moved to Davis, CA to attend UC Davis. Tom graduated with honors from UC Davis in 1962 as a Dr. in Veterinary Medicine. Tom spoke fondly of his time at Davis and about his brothers at Alpha Gamma Rho. Establishing a Veterinary Practice, back in the Valley ,and running the family ranch kept Tom busy but meeting Marie made his life complete. For his 77 years Tom did the things he loved, veterinary medicine, raising working quarter horses, roping, riding and enjoying the sport of rodeo. He was especially proud of his 3 children and grandchildren. Pa will be greatly missed. Tom is survived by his son, Mark Vestal and daughter-in-law, Diana; his daughter, Tami Humphry and son-in-law Brian; his son, Hardy Vestal and daughter in law Chelle, and 9 grandchildren.
